HP Omen 17 (GTX 1060) Notebook Review

Well-balanced. At a purchase price of almost 1300 Euros (~$1390), the Omen 17 w100ng is presently the cheapest device within its lineup. This slightly lower-performance model also renders games smoothly on its matte Full HD panel. The Omen offers a...

good price-performance ratio ; M.2 socket supports NVMe ; G-Sync support ; matte IPS panel ; SSD+HDD

touchpad makes inferior impression ; no USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C

The entry-level model of the Omen lineup does not feature a Core i7 CPU but "only" offers a Core i5-6300HQ processor. Consequently, the buyer "only" has to cough up 1300 Euros (~$1390). However, the installed processor has more than enough computing...

HP Omen 17 (i7-6700HQ, GTX 1070) Notebook Review

Omen meets Pascal. After other manufacturers of high-end laptops already equipped their systems with the latest Nvidia GPU generation, HP now follows with the Omen series and launches a gaming machine for an appealing price. But is the...

IPS display (wide viewing angles and high contrast) ; no backlight bleeding, no PWM ; good price-performance ratio ; G-Sync support ; fast NVMe-SSD ; stylish keyboard illumination ; high gaming performance ; 8 GB VRAM ; fast processor ; thin, nice...

no USB 3.1 Gen. 2 ; touchpad leaves a cheap impression ; complicated maintenance ; no optical drive ; integrated battery

Many people think about business or office notebooks when they hear HP, but the Omen name represents the gaming series from HP. Our test model, the Omen 17-w110ng, can meet the expectations for a gaming notebook. Users get a powerful CPU/GPU...

HP Omen 17 review

A monster of a gaming laptop that's relatively affordable

Affordable price ; 4K, G-Sync Display

Plastic-y build ; Large physical Size

Sacrifices in the HP Omen 17's fit and finish are a small trade-off for the graphical prowess it's capable of.

HP Omen 17 Review

Gaming laptops have little reason to envy their desktop counterparts anymore, and the HP Omen 17 ($1,299 starting, $1,799 as reviewed) shows why. This beastly notebook's Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card and Intel Core i7 processor allow it to handle...

HP Omen 17

The HP Omen 17 brings Nvidia's Pascal graphics, a 4K display, plenty of storage, and excellent performance to the midrange price tier, making it a good gaming laptop that is also a good value.

Attractive pricing. 4K display. Strong gaming performance. High storage capacity. Appealing, relatively slim design.

Plastic body. So-so touchpad.

Conclusion For a very reasonable price given the 4K display and the GTX 1070, the HP Omen 17 is an attractive proposition. Its performance is on par with or better than you'll see from midrange gaming laptops that cost more, many of which can't match...

HP Omen 17 review: Great gaming performance at a great price

You can think of HP's updated Omen 17 as that sleeper car that pulls up next to your tricked-out ride at a stoplight.

HP Omen 17 review: Great for gaming, but expensive

Though a late entrant in the segment, HP Omen 17 might just be able to give the older players competition. Here is our full review.

HP Omen 17 review

Hardcore gaming in a go-anywhere shell: can HP's Omen deliver?

Stacks of power to deal with almost anything at Full HD resolutions ; Handles VR surprisingly well ; Outputs to monitors without complaint

Build feels plasticky and creaky ; Screen is washed-out ; Ridiculously bulky and heavy ; 90-minute gaming battery life on average

A consummate gaming machine with a shoddy build, there are cheaper, prettier ways to enjoy VR

HP OMEN 17 Review

For a gaming laptop, the HP OMEN 17 delivers plenty of bang for its buck, with a vibrant 4K display, impressive gaming performance and even VR capability. But there's more to it than just a speedy graphics card. Thanks to a potent processor, a speedy...

The HP OMEN 17 has serious gaming chops, and it’s VR-ready thanks to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card.

Battery life doesn’t top four hours, and it’s even shorter when gaming.

The HP OMEN 17 is a good looking gaming laptop with undeniable graphics muscle, delivering high-end visuals and VR capability.

HP Omen 17: An affordable gaming-caliber laptop almost worth buying

You have to make compromises to get to this price point, but HP makes too many.

Before I noticed and recognized the Gsync issue, I otherwise enjoyed my time with the HP Omen 17, mostly because I used an external mouse and keyboard. I used the laptop to work on reviews and follow-up looks at this season's big PC games without...
