Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Review

Anyone who has played even 10 minutes of Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise before Black Flag will feel completely at home with the new game. The series, which took players to the American Revolution in the last installment, now gets you to sail the...

Being an Assassin Creed game, it would be remiss for us not to talk about stealth. Black Flag, surprisingly, brings a healthy dose of that for players. Despite being a game focusing on piracy, there are a lot more options and missions for players to...

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (PlayStation 4)

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag puts the franchise back on track with a gorgeous huge open world that's ripe for exploration. It's a must-buy for stealth-action fans.

Exciting stealth-based action. Beautiful next-gen graphics. An expansive open world. Dozens of hours of gameplay on land and at sea

Difficult to control player character at times. Unrealistic NPC movements and interactions

The year is 1715, and lawless pirates dominate the Caribbean Sea. Neither land nor sea is safe from these rapscallions, and the biggest hellraiser of them all is a young captain named Edward Kenway, who explores the waters during piracy's golden age....

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag for PC Review

In Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag you've got a game that can be wholly enjoyed by a hardcore fan of the series just as well as a newcomer. Here you've got the roots of the beast in assassin's hood and the feined interest in surprising and sneaking...

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag review

Assassin's Creed IV's pirating adventure is vast and enjoyable - just don't expect much you haven't seen before

The pirate setting works a treat ; Excellent naval exploration ; Customisable multiplayer modes

Still basically the same game as before ; Others now do parkour and combat better ; Edward Kenway isn't the most memorable protagonist

Black Flag crosses assassins and pirates for a deep and enjoyable adventure, but a few old flaws and a lack of innovation hold the series back

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

Assassin's Creed takes to the Carribean for a raucous pirate adventure

A great setting and a likeable hero ; Strong naval combat and seaborne exploration ; Vast range of activities ; Superb graphics

Too many activities with too little depth ; Core gameplay is feeling tired

Black Flag works as a ripping yarn, more immediate and entertaining than Assassin's Creed 3. While the core gameplay is growing slightly stale, the seaborne action explores new territory and helps keep the franchise afloat. The result is a mostly...

Assassin’s Creed IV: Freedom Cry DLC

Freedom Cry is the first DLC for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, casting you in the role of Adéwalé, erstwhile Quartermaster of Edward Kenway's Jackdaw. Taking place 15 years after the conclusion of Black Flag, Adé's voyage upon the Jackdaw has long...

All in all, Freedom Cry is an excellent addition to Assassin’s Creed IV. While the story missions are relatively short and not particularly innovative, the story itself is rewarding, and there is a large amount of extra content in addition to that...

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (PS4)

Assassin's Creed going next-gen with the PS4.

I was all but ready to give up on the Assassin's Creed series after last year's disappointing entry. I'd accepted that ACII would never be beat, that with it the formula had come as close as it would to perfection. I'm very pleased to say that...

Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag Review: Pillage and plunder to your heart’s content

AC4 is the most immersive game in the series so far where you will want to get lost in its open world whether it is on land or out at sea.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Games Xtreme boards the Jackdaw for the Next Gen to see if it differs enough from the 360, to make it worthwhile.

AC IV is one of the best games of the series so far, the naval combat is the gem in the crown and Edward Kenway stands with Ezio as a great protagonist. The Next Gen version is worth it if you don't already own the game.
