Huawei Watch 2 review

A well-equipped smartwatch with too many features

Built-in GPS and NFC ; Optional 4G model ; Feature-packed smartwatch

Screen a little too small ; Performance can be sluggish ; Design less premium than predecessor

Huawei tries to cover all use cases with the Watch 2, and while it hits most of them, it doesn't do it in a way which is overly user-friendly. If anything, it strengthens the case for specialized smartwatches, rather than a one-device-fits-all approach.

Huawei Watch 2 review: a decent Android Wear smartwatch that misses the mark with fitness tracking

With 4G, GPS, a barometer and heart-rate tracking the Watch 2 means you can leave your phone behind…

4G connectivity ; Lightweight and comfortable ; Decent battery life

No crown or bezel control ; Inaccurate fitness sensors ; Small screen, large bezel

Huawei Watch 2 review: Android's best smartwatch is 45% off this Black Friday

A smartwatch packed with sensors that looks good and has Android Wear 2 onboard. We like it

Decent battery life ; Packed with sensors ; Android Wear 2

Expensive ; Plastic strap looks nasty

The only fly in the ointment is the price. At £329 for the non-4G sports version, £379 for the 4G sports watch and £409 for the classic, it is a little pricey for a smartwatch.

Huawei Watch 2 review: a fitness focus that falls flat

Huawei's latest smartwatch is a departure from the fashion-forward original

Very accurate heart rate monitor that works 24/7 ; Built-in GPS means you can run without your phone ; It’s not as bulky as sportier watches like the LG Watch Sport or the Garmin Fenix 5X ; Watch’s speaker produces surprisingly good audio quality

The screen is so small it makes text very hard to read, especially while moving ; Battery struggles to last 24 hours ; Not particularly attractive ; Plagued with lag, crashes, and random bugs

Huawei Watch 2

The Huawei Watch 2 features excellent fitness tracking capabilities and is the strongest showcase for Android Wear 2.0 we've seen so far, but that still doesn't make it a perfect smartwatch.

Continuous heart rate monitoring. Built-in GPS and Android Pay compatibility. Accurate step and distance tracking. Good battery life.

Strap feels chintzy and isn't easy to swap out. Difficult to keep track of long-term fitness progress. Wi-Fi can be finicky.

And yet we can't recommend the Huawei Watch 2 unequivocally. Android Wear lags behind watchOS in the app department and it just isn't intuitive to use. And the watch itself is big and bulky, limiting your abilities for all-day wear. So while the Huawei...

Huawei Watch 2 review

Can the Huawei Watch 2 offer something different to a sea of other fitness-focused smartwatches on sale in 2017? Read our Huawei Watch 2 review and find out.

The Huawei Watch 2 is no-doubt a huge improvement over the first-generation Huawei Watch despite trading in the classic look for something a little sportier. The double-chrome design gives it a premium look, although it’s let down a little bit by...

Huawei Watch 2 review

Huawei's Watch 2 Sport gives you everything you need from a smartwatch, including mobile payments and GPS.

Android Wear 2.0 is polished ; Watch Mode offers 25-day battery life ; Comfortable and lightweight ; Offers array of sensors ; Removable bands

Screen is too small ; No rotating crown ; Occasional long load times

Huawei’s Watch 2 Sport is the best Android Wear watch so far. It offers everything you may need from a smartwatch, such as actionable notifications, 4GB of storage for offline music playback, GPS, NFC for Android Pay, Google Assistant, and direct...

Huawei Watch 2

The Huawei Watch 2 is the follow-up to 2015's Huawei Watch, and one of the first smartwatches to launch with Android Wear 2.0. Taking a leaf out of LG's book, the Watch 2 is available in two models.

Huawei Watch 2: A powerful fitness-focused Android Wear smartwatch

Last year I had a chance to try out the Huawei Watch and it ended up being arguably the best Android Wear smartwatch of 2016. That original Huawei Watch was a fashion watch with steel and leather band options with a refined design.

Lightweight comfortable design ; Accurate GPS and activity tracker ; Clear and crisp color display ; Android Wear 2.0 with Android Pay support ; IP68 dust and water resistance ; Solid battery life

Bezel makes it difficult to tap on screen ; Limited band options

Huawei Watch 2 Review: In Depth

Huawei Watch 2 Review: We've been wearing the Huawei Watch 2, one of the 1st Android Wear 2.0 smartwatches, for well over a week now. Here's what we think.

Sensor packed ; Water resistant ; Android Wear 2.0 ; Design choices

Cheap strap on standard model ; Occasional pause or stutter

The Watch 2 packs all of the hardware features you’d expect from a modern premium smartwatch, backed by Google’s ever-evolving and increasingly effective Android Wear OS. The standard strap might be a bit cheap and ugly, but that’s easily fixed and the...
