Solid video quality and reception; excellent remote, especially for those with poor eyesight; easy-to-use basic EPG; works with Smart Antennas.

No guided setup; initial setup can be a bit tricky; composite video cable not included.

Good reception, respectable video quality, and a basic EPG make the RCA DTA800 an excellent DTV converter box, despite some slightly tricky setup snags.

Not that good

 

I got best results using a cheap RCA TV top antenna over two more expensive ones I have.

This box changes channels rapidly. Sound levels are good

I have trouble pulling in digital stations. I've got two other boxes from different manufacturers. They both have less trouble tuning in

Poor poor reception

 

I hope "Walnuts" lets me return this nearly useless "Plate Of Shrimp" in a day or two.

At "Walnuts," I got to use my almost ready to expire(Sept 30) $40 coupon for a pre-tax price of $47.95 - $40 = $7.94. Otherwise, there is nothing good to say

This DTV converter box does not receive hardly any channels at all! I get only two! In comparison, I have a new RCA el'cheapo TV that receives 7 digital channels off the air. I also have a one year old DVR that receives 5, but 2 pixelate and break-up....
