Altec Lansing iM600

Altec Lansing's iM600 speaker system offers a compact design, great sound, video output, auxiliary input, remote control, FM radio, and a rechargeable battery rated at seven hours of continuous playback.

The iM600 does not secure your iPod from falling out; its alarm clock feature only works with the iPod; the rechargeable battery is not removable; and the FM radio band is wider than necessary.

Altec Lansing has been in the iPod speaker market longer than anyone, and it shows. The inclusion of a rechargeable battery and an FM radio makes the iM600 incredibly versatile.

Ce système d’enceintes pour iPod est assez complet. Il embarque une télécommande et une radio FM. Et il fonctionne à la fois sur secteur et batterie.

Fairly compact, neat design, nice remote and good sound given its size, although bass a bit weak. Overall, very happy with this apart from the radio limitation - see bad points.

Radio will not work when plugged in as suffers from interference - can only listen to it when on the internal battery, which is very annoying.

For its size it produces excellent sound quality - easily as good as many much more expensive alternatives. We bought it because of its size - we live in a very small house. We were so impressed we bought another one for downstairs.

DAB would have been nice - but I guess it would have been much more expensive. The IPOD syncing isn't really very useful - we tend to use the normal cradle.

Simple, nice design. Although I am no expert, the sound isn't bad for the price. Bought one for my son a couple of years back (17) and have now purchased same model again for my daughter (19). There seems to be very little on the market at this price....

rechargable battery, lasts far longer than you would expect (about 5hrs). Great for travel.

Bass a little lacking, but i expected that for a portable unit.

Neat looks and size. Sound quality very good considering the size. (Make sure you get the second edition if you want to be able to charge the latest iPods, it's variously labeled as v2 or USB - if it has ESS sound, it's the right one.)

Radio reception not perfect, takes some fiddling to get a good signal.

light and easy to transport around ie; holiday travel Loud enough for outside garden use ie; barbecues. Great value for the price bracket it is in.

Not in the same league as the Bose and not enough base for me but you will struggle to find much better in its price range.
