It's ok, but...

 

This is a Hot-Swap capable backplane. That kind of product is geared towards professionals and pro-sumers because it is typically made for RAID. I suppose if all you need is to just squeeze a few more hard drive bays into your tower, this will work...

The outer hull/shell seems pretty solid ; Trayless ; Good LED indicators ; Great big cooling fan

Trayless! But slightly bigger than it needs to be.

 

I also ran into a problem that might have been unique to my chassis. I found out if I over tighten the screws while securing the device into my bays. It would somehow trigger the alarms. I'm guess it's because the extra tension that cause some contacts...

Would buy again for home use.

Low cost, no screws, simple usage: A fine product for home use. Had it up and runing in 10 min. It took longer to get the drives and encosure out of the packing material than to set it up. Fits nice in a case with tabs for rails as it has cut outs for...

Feels easy to break: Doors are a tad weak. it makes me wonder how much use the connectors at the back can take. Drives fit tight so they will not shake but it can be hard to load them. For light use it will be jsut fine

Over the past year or so we've purchase 8 of the MB453SPF-B (through newegg), which use the trays. The trays can be annoying, the screws are easy to lose and it's hard to find replacements. And in at least one case the latch on the tray failed. Don't...
